New tool enhancing Nobel Prize-winning AlphaFold

SciLifeLab researchers have developed a new tool called AF_unmasked, designed to overcome the limitations of AlphaFold when predicting large and flexible protein complex structures. The new tool was published in Nature Communications the same day that the creators of AlphaFold were awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Read the full story at SciLifeLab news

Precision medicine: results from ProBio trial

ProBio is a clinical trial project lead by Professor Johan Lindberg, Scilifelab and Karolinska Institute, with collaboration with Scilifelab Clinical Genomics and NBIS (run as a NBIS Partner Project). As a side effect, the project has previously yielded routine diagnostic testing of cell-free DNA for patients with metastatic prostate cancer at Karolinska Hospital. The first results from this trial have now been published in Nature Medicine.

AI grading of prostate cancer

Spearpoint Analytics has used the AI compute and data sharing services at the NBIS infrastructure unit AIDA Data Hub to improve the diagnostic tools available for prostate cancer using AI and machine learning.

The startup company Spearpoint Analytics develops an outcome-based analysis (PCAI – Prostate Cancer Aggressiveness Index) that predicts the severity of prostate cancer by analyzing microscopy images of tissue sections.
