1-2 Data Stewards with focus on human data management

Duties

We are looking for someone who wants to help enable life science research in Sweden that goes beyond what is possible for individual researchers, a single university, or a single research area to achieve. You will contribute to development activities in international projects regarding the management of genomics data and medical informatics where NBIS is active, in order to realize the visions of the 1+MG initiative (e.g., European Genome Data Infrastructure and Genome of Europe). A major focus will be on establishing and implementing routines for user support to researchers for making human genetic data accessible. An important part of the work is also to educate researchers in principles and approaches for managing and sharing different types of sensitive research data, as well as being engaged in competence-raising networking within research data management in Sweden. To perform the work some travelling might be needed, nationally as well as internationally.

Qualifications

Applicants must have at least a Master’s degree in Life Science, Information Technology, or Bioinformatics, or equivalent competence in one or several of these areas acquired in another way. Furthermore,

  • Experience working with and/or describing clinical or other sensitive data using relevant metadata standards, ontologies, and controlled vocabularies
  • Familiarity with principles and conditions for Open Science and FAIR, as well as the application of these.
  • Documented experience of leading collaborative projects
  • Skills in coordination and communication, and the ability to document ongoing work

As a person, you should be flexible and service-oriented, willing to learn new things, and willing to work with complex tasks. You should also be quality-conscious as well as goal- and result-oriented. You must be able to express yourself fluently in English, both in writing and in speaking.

Additional qualifications

  • Experience working with medical informatics or clinical genomics
  • Familiarity with Swedish legislation regarding personal data and research ethics, as well as with the EU General Data Protection Regulation
  • Experience with operational development
  • Experience with international repositories for the deposition and publication of Life Science data
  • Experience developing and working according to Standard Operating Procedures
  • Experience working with user support
  • Experience working in international projects and networks
  • Experience in teaching
