Valentin has studied Chemistry at the Sofia University, Bulgaria, and he received his PhD in Chemical Physics at Stockholm University studying enzymatic reaction mechanisms with quantum mechanics methods.
In 2011 Valentin was employed in the Department of Pharmaceutical Biosciences at Uppsala University, where he shifted his interests and developed expertise to machine learning, (bio)informatics and big data. Together with a number of software development and research projects, he was involved in teaching.
Valentin joined the Compute and Storage fascility of NBIS in 2016. He is managing the bioinformatics resources and projects at UPPMAX, and he is teaching in various SciLifeLab and UPPMAX users training courses. He is also working with cloud based solutions for bioinformatics research as an alternative to HPC.
